The second hard fought final of the year and Roger Federer this time succumbed at the Canadian Open to an inspired Djokovic. The irony of the match is that Roger the final "king", the best big points player and tiebreaker leader was beaten in all departments. Does this mean anything for the US Open 2007? Nothing, zero, nada! Roger can come out of this defeat however painful and dismantle Novak on a 5 set match at the US Open. Will he? Hard to tell, but one thing I am sure, the young wolfs, Novak Djokovic, David Murray, Richard Gasquet and Marcus Bagdahtis are no longer just showing their teeth at the pack leader, but inflicting rather serious wounds on him and little by little undermining his supremacy. At the moment Djokovic is proving to be the most perseverant and with the highest rate of success as he so superbly demonstrated today.

Tennis Instruction: A couple of days after the match Roddick - Federer at the Australian Open 2007, a friend of mine said "it is impossible to beat a "Mister"...like Federer...
I answered:
My friend I watched the match and I think that it is still more impossible for his opponents;
When the attacks to the net are made cross court, instead of down the line.
When the same attacks are made with topspin perfectly set within the striking zone of your opponent, instead of sliced and low!
When the low volleys at the net are a misery.
When you can not make a put away volley unless you are inches from the net.
When during a whole match, the variations of a service of 240km do not include reducing the first service to 190km with "extreme kick " (high on the backhand) and going behind it to the net from time to time. Write Comment (0 comments) |

Marcos Baghdatis & Novak Djokovic two young players that, barring injury, will be playing a major role in the world of tennis for the next six to ten years. Today, both demonstrated at Wimbledon 2007 that they are hungry, they will fight, they are ready to suffer, they will do what it takes to be great champions and they will be. Novak Djokovic defeated Hewitt in a marathon the match lasted 4 hrs., 12 mins 7-6(8), 7-6(2), 4-6, 7-6(5) and this could prove to be a crucial factor in tomorrows match against a Marcos Baghdatis who had a much shorter match against Nikolay Davydenko in straight sets 7-6(5), 7-6(5), 6-3.
