Tennis instruction: Pete Sampras Slam Dunk 2

The tennis Slam Dunk overhead smash has to be perfectly timed, enormous leg power and explosivity is required.

Here from the back angle you can see in detail how Pete times the jump with a strong leg bend and a powerful vertical jump.

This is a gutsy play, some thought it was showboating, I think it was smart from Pete, he took reaction time away from his opponents and left them flat footed.

Had he not used the slam dunk, he would problably have been caught by the lob because he was moving pretty fast towards the net and there was no time for back paddling.

This is part of being a total tennis player by quickly making tough decisions and choosing the right shot for the right ball.
