Roland Garros Tennis Lessons - Jo-Wilfried Tsonga - The Footwork!

The bread and butter of any professional tennis player and tennis player to be is The Footwork!

Tennis players know better then anyone that if your legs or feet are not moving it is game set and match for their opponent. Therefore fitness is so important that your strokes, your psyche  or your tactics always take second place to your fitness.

In this video lesson Jo-Wilfried Tsonga shows us that a big athlete can keep his feet moving at all times.

Does the footwork require anything special? Yes, your total focus and fitness training:

- Footwork is a constant in tennis.

- It determines the quality of your shots.

- It sets you up in relation to the ball for space and distance.

- It shortens or lengthens your reaction time.

- At the split step for example decides direction change and powers you to the ball.

- It is responsible for the finer adjustments that will allow you to hit the ball perfectly centered.

- The better your court coverage is the smaller the court will become for your opponent and lead him/her to errors.

- The longer you can sustain high level movement, harder it will be for your opponents to defeat you.

If you do not have a fitness program yet, I highly recommend you develop one now to fit your present level of play and your future goals.

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga  excellent footwork but his ability to sustain prolonged tournament efforts still needs work.  In other other words is fitness level does not meet the needs of his style of play on 5 set matches on clay.

There are many ready to use tennis fitness training programs here is one that you might like to explore. http://tenniscruz.com/content/view/260/89/
