Tennis Serve video instruction - There
are many reasons why players have serious challenges with the tennis service
motion, here are some of them: 1. The ball toss - Improper ball toss leads to major quirks. 2. Use of the forehand grip instead of the continental or chopper grip. 3. Spins. Lack of spins. 4. No Pronation. The list is extensive and goes through, leg bend, upper body rotation, reaching up, jumping towards the ball and so on. In this tennis video lesson I want you to focus your attention on one single element: - The left to right motion of the racket around the ball to impart kick or spin on the ball. (For left-handers it is right to left motion). As you will see on the video Roger Federer from his sideways position drops the racket head behind his back on his left side and from there propels it on a left to right semi-circular motion towards the ball. This is one of the major keys to create spins on your serve. Observe this video several times carefully and than try it first dry without ball and later on the tennis court, I am sure you will improve your spins on the serve.
