Did all coaches make any difference for Andy Roddick? PDF Print E-mail

For some all the tennis coaching in the world is just not enough!

Opposite to Gilles Mueller who learned his lessons from the past and realized a stellar performance at the US open, Andy Roddick has been spinning wheels for the last 4 or 5 years!

At the time I wrote this article, Do not Make Your Opponent Look Good, I thought that Andy would have learned something from that match. But I was wrong, there came Jimmy Connors following a litany of other Coaches Brad Gilbert included and nothing happened!

Now if you read this article from almost 2 years ago and look at the match Roddick lost to Djokovick at the US Open 2008, you will see that Andy played an exact copy of his losing match against Federer!

What does this mean?

For some players the best coaches in the world it is just not enough!
Andy Roddick fits perfectly in that category, he either does not listen to his coaches advise or they do not give it to him or he just plainly likes to be beaten in a dramatic but rather unimaginative way. Sergio Cruz
