- After a strong split step and a wide and powerful -step out- with the left leg, Roger pivots.

- And at the same time brings the racket back supported with the left hand.

- Makes another strong step towards the ball and anchors the right foot on the ground in perfect balance.

- With his legs still slightly bent he takes a huge swipe at the ball.

- Using the momentum from his movement he unfolds the shot and lets his left leg come around and stop him on a dime.

- This last step is crucial because it will allow Roger to recover immediately if his opponent reached the passing with a volley.

Federer showed his former idol the door with a sensational performance. The fourth-round thriller ended Sampras' remarkable reign - at least for the moment.
