Australian Open 2008 - Are we playing fair with the Draws? |
Let us take the men's draw top half as an example. As much as I want to accept the rules, I just can't. Of course I understand that the 1st seeded player should play the weaker players, but how weak can a whole quarter of the draw be? Or rather how lopsided can a quarter of the draw be?Write Comment (0 comments) |

What to Do and Not to Do before a Major Tennis Event |
The tennis season has barely begun, the first Grand Slam is about to start and I thought it would be appropriate to talk about small things that can be important to succeed in a major tournament.
The scenario I will develop is for contestants with a chance at winning a Grand Slam. The location is Melbourne, Australia, Australian Open. You can extrapolate this to any tournament of importance with identical conditions.
Many players, either by sheer anxiety or because they do not think they are well prepared for a major event, tend to overtrain and to enter a series of events that in the end are counter productive for the tournament where they really want to do well. Write Comment (2 comments) |

Are Champions Born or Made? Is the Answer in the Genes? |

This is a continuation of the article "Donkey wins the Tennis Australian Open 2008 title!" http://tenniscruz.com/content/view/186/27/ Are Champions Born or Made? Is the Answer in the Genes? If so then what separates the tennis champions from the regular tennis players and what are the tell-tale signs of champion material being on the tennis court? First, I am going to answer the second question, this is an extract from a presentation by Frank Slezak at the European Tennis Symposium for Coaches 2006, a top Tcheckoslovakian Tennis Coach and experienced in working and observing developing world class tennis junior players for many years. Donkey wins the Tennis Australian Open 2008 title! |
No! No! Just kidding. Of course a donkey could not ever win the Australian Open in tennis, or the Kentucky Derby!
I am just trying to get your attention ! (smile). This is about the eternal question "Are Champions born or made"?
And the answer is "Champions are born not made"!
A champion will be a champion because of his/her genetical make up and not because someone made them. Write Comment (0 comments) |
