The question many are asking, is Roger Federer finished? PDF Print E-mail

Will Rafael Nadal be the new No 1?

The way I see it is, Roger Federer is between the wall and the abyss!

The choice is his and that can be, to take a step forward and fall into the abyss or turn around claw up that wall and go all the way to the top of the mountain like no one has ever done before! And by that I mean it literally, to leave no question marks behind in anyone's mind such as, who is the best player of all time?

Did Anyone Lose at the Wimbledon final 2008? You be the judge! PDF Print E-mail

As someone who over the years played over 400 hundred international open prize money tournaments all over the world, when I went to the ATP site one thing struck my mind above all the fuss about the Wimbledon final.

Below the big flashing pictures with captions about the matches a little to the right I read:

- Next Tournament!

Regular people can  get all embroiled in what happened, how it happened and why it happened? Tennis players have to go back to the hotel, pack their bags, have someone take them to the airport and go to the next tournament.

This is the most fundamental thing you learn when you tour the world playing tennis, whether you win or lose there is always a next tournament, you leave your wins or losses behind and start preparing mentally and physically for it right as you leave central court.  Some call it bouncing back, I call it survival of the fittest!

Is professional tennis Coaching a profession? PDF Print E-mail
Just spent some time reading an article about tennis coaches on ESPN and I can not agree more with José Higueras, yes he is right “Coaches are highly overrated” and in my opinion professional tennis coaching is berated!

Nevertheless, the challenge for tennis coaches is much deeper than what Greg Garber portrays on his ESPN sports article with a few quotes from “famous coaches”. It encompasses several layers of responsibility and competence that Mr. Garber never mentioned:

Tennis Coaching is a cottage industry:

The Wimbledon Ticker! PDF Print E-mail

Wimbledon Thursday 26, 2008

Matches that could turn dangerous for established players!

Predicting tennis matches especially on grass is a tough proposition, but life is fun when we take risks and after Wimbledon is over I can erase this bit, so why not? No, no, I will keep it published, I like to stand for what I belive in or write.

What is in a Champion? Why is Roger Federer so special? PDF Print E-mail
Some of you may think because I did not stand-up for Roger Federer poor preparation for the French Open final that I do not like Roger!

You very far from the truth. Since Pete Sampras and before that John McEnroe, there is no other player that pleases me to watch play tennis more other than Roger Federer.

When I am critical of Roger it is because I believe he is capable of a lot more on the clay and because I sincerely doubt that he has ever prepared himself physically to win a clay court tournament such as Roland Garros. My perspective is simple, Roger has based his performances at Roland Garros on his talent and not in the hard physical work it takes to win a tournament that will take you well beyond your mental, tactical and physical resources.
